Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Easter celebrations

We had two Easter Parties, one on the Elderly Frail Unit and one on our Memory Lane unit.  Ground Floor enjoyed an Easter Quiz and lots of laughter and on Memory Lane we had Easter Bingo which went down a treat!  Memory Lane decorated table cloths and made lots of lovely hand painted eggs. Everyone had a lovely time.

Colouring Competition

Our local children’s nursery Rosedene, took part in the Barchester colouring competition. Our Residents chose the winning picture which was 4year old Oliver. We went along and presented them with a giant Bunny for the winner Olscar and took bags of chocolate eggs for the rest of the children. The children loved it and took turns congratulating Oscar, who as you can see was very shy!

Easter egg hunt

Residents and colleagues at Mount Vale welcomed the children from Rosedene Nursey to the home for their annual Easter egg hunt. They presented Elsie with cookies they had just baked for our Residents to enjoy  before they hunted round the gardens furiously trying to find the chocolate. Resident watched from their Rooms and loved seeing the Children. Elizabeth loved chatting to the little ones.

A trip to the garden centre

Resident, Mandy had a lovely day out at the homes local garden centre, a walk around the park followed by lunch at a local café. She had a great time.

The Astor's at Cliveden

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.

The Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.   The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.  We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.
