Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home
The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
Zoe Giles
Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.
I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!
I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home
Carer's Week
We have been appreciating all our carer's this week with treats for everyone. Our sweet trolley was overflowing with goodies for all our carer's to enjoy.
It was lovely to have the opportunity to say a big thank you for all their hard work and to all carer's everywhere you do an amazing job!
Minibus Trip
Residents have been on minibus trips throughout May and June to see the spectacular displays of Rhododendrons in Moorlands Nature Reserve located in Shipton-by-Beningbrough. Resident were walked through the beautiful flowers taking time to look at all the wildlife and scenery.
Dementia Action Week
Dementia Actions was a very busy week indeed! We did a mile a day for a week in May to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. We then hosted a Dementia Café and asked our residents, friend and family to join us, it was such a success and we raised over £230.00
Yorkshire Carer of the Year
Our amazing carer Bless Palmer who retired after 10 years long service in January 2023 was nominated for North Yorkshire Carer of the Year! The anonymous nominations were made and we find out on 28th September whether Bless has won, whatever the outcome we are all very proud of Bless!
International Nurses Day
On International Nurses Day we made a special effort to thank our own nurses here at Mulberry Court with a little pamper package to unwind when they get home after a long shift.
Story telling with Jon Sleigh
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
