Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

Armistice Day

Mulberry Court commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent.  They joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.

As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two minute silence, residents took part in therapeutic activities making poppy displays and listening to old wartime songs.

English National Ballet

We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.

ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.

Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.

Bonfire night

Residents had a great time creating an explosion of colour for our Bonfire display.  With red and orange roses it was certainly a fiery burst of colour with added crafts to create the sparkle of fireworks you could almost hear the crackle of sparklers!

Gardening Club

Mulberry Court Gardening Club had a lovely afternoon planting some beautiful plants in the winter hanging baskets.  The baskets once completed were taken outside and are hanging from every corner of the home for everyone to admire.

Musical moments

Maggie Baker came along to give our residents a pure treat, putting the fun back into exercise.  Musical entertainment from singing to playing an array of musical instruments, Maggie inspired everyone with her infectious enthusiasm and amazing talent to stretch, clap, sing and foot tap the morning away.  A very clever way to give our residents a real workout without realising it!

World Opera Day

A sophisticated afternoon watching concerts from around the world with some of the most talented opera singers past and present.  Cheese and Wine to create the perfect atmosphere along with some who’s who quizzes and word-searches everyone had a lovely time.
