Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

We are all going on a Summer holiday!

Residents and staff at Oak Grange care home in Mollington were transported back to the 60s when the home threw a party to celebrate Sir Cliff Richard’s birthday on October 14.

Born Harry Webb in 1940, Sir Cliff Richard has sold over 250 million records worldwide making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.  Staff and residents celebrated his 82ndt birthday by holding a 60s-themed party with songs from Sir Cliff’s heyday, 60s inspired party food and dancing from the era.  They showed Sir Cliff’s most famous movies – ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Young Ones’ and reminisced about the 60s.

Edinburgh Botanical Garden

Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.

The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.

Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.

Afternoon tea for the Queen

The residents who wanted to all paid their respects to our Majesty The Queen at her State Funeral. We had and afternoon tea party to talk about our memories of The Queen. We have all been so upset of the loss of our dear Queen. We have had a book of condolence and have been reminiscing of all the wonderful memories that we have of the Queen.

We are now looking forward to our new Kings Reign and his up and coming Coronation.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

The residents made cheese and onion muffins for the Macmillan coffee morning that we had. They enjoyed chopping up all the ingredients and the smell of them whilst they were cooking got all our taste buds going.

Zoo Lab

We had a visit from Zoo Lab, who brought us a wonderful array of creatures for us to view. From rats to giant snails. The residents who were brave enough to hold them, enjoyed finding out more about all the animals from the very talented Zoo Lab Keeper.

Wallace Collection

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
