Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

flamenco dancers graced us with their lively and passionate performance. The event took place on Sunday and left a lasting impression on both residents and visitors. Flamenco, a traditional Spanish art form is known for its intricate footwork, rhythmic handclaps and expressive movements. The performance here at oak grange was a collaboration between the care home and Deva Flamenco, a local group specialising in flamenco dance.

The event aimed to bring the residents a taste of Spanish culture and a memorable afternoon of entertainment. Many residents and staff and visitors joined in the excitement, clapping along and even trying out some flamenco inspired steps.  We believe in providing residents with a diverse range of activities that enhance their wellbeing and engage their interests. The flamenco dancers bought incredible energy to the home and the smiles on residents faces was priceless.

In a heart-warming blend of music and passion, the corridors of Oak Grange in Mollington, Chester were recently filled with he ethereal melodies of a renowned classical singer. The event brought not only a sense of joy and nostalgia but also a much needed connection to the world beyond the care home walls. As the residents gathered to witness this enchanting performance, the power of music to uplift spirits and create memories became abundantly clear. Our classical singer Sophie Murphy graced oak grange with her powerful yet soothing voice, evoking emotions that touched the very souls of the listeners.

The magic of classical music filled the air, bridging the gap between generations and memories.

For many residents the performance was more than just an afternoon of entertainment. It was a journey back in time to a world where  the music of legendary composers held sway. The classical melodies awakened cherished memories and created an atmosphere of shared experiences.

The experience of coming together to enjoy the performance sparked conversation and interactions that may not have occurred otherwise.

Residents at Oak Grange enjoyed another wonderful day trip, our latest adventure was a narrowboat trip down the Cheshire ring canal. We packed a picnic and headed off to Christleton where the wonderful boat POT OF GOLD was waiting for us. Once we all embarked we set off and cruised at a leisurely pace, gently guiding participants into a serene and tranquil environment.

The slow movement of the boat, the calming waters and picturesque landscape passing by created a sense of stability and safety, allowing all our residents to relax and engage with the surroundings in a meaningful way.

The sights , sounds and smell of the waterways often evoke long forgotten experiences, residents reminiscing about boating holidays, childhood memories of visits to riversides and holidays with parents and siblings. These shared memories become bridges between residents and staff fostering a sense of community and understanding. This trip offered an opportunity for staff to engage with residents in a different environment, the relaxed atmosphere encourages natural interactions, where focus shifts from caregiving to companionship. We learn more about the individuals, there  preferences, their stories and ultimately strengthening the bond between residents and staff.

Meet Chaucer our new therapy dog, and what a beauty he is, calm and friendly with a tail that never stops wagging. Overall therapy dogs plays a significant role in promoting the overall well-being of residents. Their unconditional love and companionship provide a meaningful difference to the lives of those they interact with, enhancing the quality of life for everyone involved.

In the heart of our beautiful home a magical event unfolded, transporting residents into a whimsical wonderland. The mad hatters tea party inspired by a Lewis carols classic tale, filled the air with laughter and joy. Dressed in colourful costumes our residents were entertained by all the characters of Alice in Wonderland. A visit from Chestnut house and Grange House nursery just added to the joy and laughter of the day. Along with copious amounts of tea and an array of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones provided by our lovely chef ensured we all had a wonderful afternoon.

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
