Activities at Oak Grange Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home
A Very Special Day
What a joyous occasion for our lovely residents Sue and Ray! They were invited to their son's wedding and we wanted to make it extra special for them. Our amazing staff on Memory Lane helped them get ready with a stunning outfit for Sue and a handsome suit for Ray. They looked fabulous and had a wonderful time at the wedding. We are so happy for them and proud of our staff for going above and beyond. Here are some beautiful photos of their special day.
Coronation history
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
Dancing Queens
We were very lucky to be entertained by the talented Sharon Wallace Holdstock this week, she has sung on the Michael Macintyre show and now she has sung for us too, a wonderful afternoon singing and dancing and reminiscing of days gone by.
Our Sue and Ray still love dancing with each other and we all had a great time!
Night Owls
We had a wonderful afternoon with our friend Pam and her beautiful owl called Spike. A wonderful way to see this wonderful bird up close and personal and learn some interesting facts about barn owls.
Oak grange connects with SMILE
Oak Grange residents enjoyed a trip to Poulton sports and social club in connection with SMILE TLC. This is a charity that supports those affected by dementia. A wonderful afternoon full of warmth and friendliness, music and dancing, a tasty lunch and much laughter. A huge thank you to smile tlc for inviting us to this event and we will become regular attendees. Connecting with outside communities has a positive impact on individuals and communities, promoting understanding, social connections and collaboration. A truly wonderful afternoon that was enjoyed by many.
Intergenerational Activities
The pupils from St Oswalds primary school came to help us plant flowers in our garden, what an amazing bunch of children they were too, plants from premier plants ltd were donated to us which was very generous and the residents had a truly wonderful afternoon. Ages from 10 to 100 came together to create beautiful raised beds and then a chatter with drinks and cakes, we hope this is the beginning of many afternoons spent with St Oswalds. Thank you to everyone involved.
