Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oaklands Care Home

Flower Power

As a resident wished to create their own hanging basket. We took the resident to the garden centre for her to choose the flowers she wanted and then, with the help of other residents, they planted the flowers, and the hanging baskets are now hanging in our courtyards, for all to see.

The Magic Table

We try and use the Magic Table at least once a day. Residents have the chance to join in with a variety of games, including the musical notes, which is one our favourites, as we can sing along to the tune that we create. We also enjoy making the flowers larger and this provokes discussions about colours and flowers.

Flower Power

We had a fantastic flower arranging session for a lady called Jean, who for the last few weeks has sat back and watched from a distance as others arrange the flowers, but this week Jean fully immersed herself and had a fantastic time arranging and smelling the flowers to display across the home.

Forget-Me-Not

To help raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s research, we started a craft project with help from the local community, making items which we have displayed in our home for residents to enjoy looking at, and then we held a tea party and will launch the sale off the items.

VE Day Celebrations

We had singing, dancing and lots of storytelling from Mavis, who was remembering standing in the garden with her mum as a little girl watching the last planes come over.

We had flower arranged in the week using red, white and blue colour to commemorate the occasion.

A Bit of Fresh Air

We have taken the opportunity to enjoy the nice spring days we have been seeing through march for some walks around the garden, looking at the snowdrops as they come to an end and the daffodils.
