Activities at Oaklands Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oaklands Care Home
Epilepsy Action Charity
Each year in February we support Epilepsy Action Charity by holding a fun day with staff and residents, dressing up in purple, we sell cakes and play games. It is always lots of fun.
London Fashion Week
We marked London's Fashion Week recently by looking through magazines and choosing our favourite designs and creating mood boards of clothes. We were very creative and had lots of fun.
International Day of Women in Science
We celebrated International Day of Women in Science by having some fun with science experiments. We brought a small kit from a local business, which provided us with all the equipment and little cards with all the instructions on and we had great fun.
There were lots of opportunities for the residents to be hands on creating and great visual effects for all of us to see.
Magic Table
We use the magic table with individuals and in small groups as it’s a great sensory tool, which provokes lots of conversations and interactions with residents. Pictured here is one of our staff members and a resident playing on the magic table, singing along to the music and having a great time!
Fresh Flower Arranging
Residents really enjoy arranging fresh flowers every other week to be displayed around the home. Whilst arranging the flowers we often talk about the colours and smells of the flowers, our favourite flowers and even what flowers we had at our wedding! It brings back some great memories for everyone.
Art Therapy
We enjoy lots of art and craft activities here at Oaklands, sometimes we work towards a big craft project and other times we just enjoy it for the moment. Here we are free painting on a one to one basis with one of our residents.
