Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

PAT Dog Walkies

Here at Ouse View in Fulford residents and staff are extremely lucky to benefit from frequent PAT therapy sessions with Bruno the Labrador. He is always a welcome sight around the building with his handler Melissa our very own HSA. This week Bruno has been delighting everyone around the home offering cuddle time at Dementia café, taking request for one a one to one room visits and a walk outdoors joined by residents who were able observe his obedience training and tricks. At Ouse View we understand the emotional and sensory value given by opportunities like this and as such Bruno is a valuable asset to our residents and the home.

The Kings Celebrations

Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style.

Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal concert with live music, a Royal tea party followed by a street party lunch and games to finish.

The whole home came together, along with families, friends and local community members to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savory treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of champagne.

We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.

Magical Moments

Residents in Ouse View care home had a fantastic Musical Moments with Maggie! The residents were singing and dancing along to ‘Que sera sera’.

Thank you for the music and Maggie even played ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ on her trumpet. We all had a great time shaking egg shakers, waving, and pretending to swim and surf! Residents were taken to lots of places; Brenda was in the Bahamas, while Jan and Enid were in Scarborough at the sea side!

Val was the first one to say to Maggie, "I hope we will see you again soon."

It's amazing how music can bring so much joy and laughter to our lives. We are looking forward to the next musical session.

Celebrations fit for a King

Excitement is in the air at Ouse View in Fulford where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of Chef Paula Harvey in preparation for the King’s Coronation on May 6th.

Afternoon tea at the Pavillion

Residents at Ouse View are making the most of the sunny weather in York and people across the region enjoy the warmest weather of the year so far.

Tables are laid for a special treat sitting in the beautiful courtyard area for spot of al fresco dining at the York Pavilion. The hotel has a wonderful garden beautifully planted with flowers and shrubs, the hotel staff were very attentive taking care of the residents. The secluded courtyard was ideal for residents to sit outside with a book or a drink.

Spring lambs pay a surprise visit

Ouse View care home, in Fulford, heard the patter of tiny hooves as baby lambs came to visit the home on a fine spring day.  Residents at Ouse View were delighted to see their new furry friends roaming around their garden and the home as Rachel from Ryedale animals in Slingsby lead the lambs room to room.
