Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
Visit from the Local Church
Here at Ouse View residents and visitors had an amazing get together when Jackie Tuvey-Smith and Pippa Ensaw brought to us, a coming in of the new year prayer service.
Residents were delighted to see the familiar faces from church and to have the opportunity to observe their faith as individuals and as a group. We shared some hymns and social time followed by a coffee afternoon.
Double celebrations at Ouse View
Residents and colleagues at Ouse View celebrated as Deputy Manager, Fatima and Senior Carer, June received a prestigious golden 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for just over 10 years.
Fatima Buxton and June Kendal started together at Barchester in October 2012 and have worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Ouse View Library
Today residents at Ouse View were introduced to a small library on the second floor. The residents have been having a blast exploring all the new books and finding new favourites to read. We have a selection of genres, from mysteries and thrillers to romance and some classic literature. There are even some fun activity books, like crossword puzzles and word searches.
It's great to see the residents enjoying this new space. It's a cosy spot to relax and get lost in a good book.

The team would like to say thank to all volunteers and organisations who have been generous with their time and expertise throughout the year from; Meg at the York University, Rachel from Ryedale Farm Animals, Maggie at ‘Musical Moments’ and Mark from ‘U sit Fit’ to name a few.
'Tin-Can-Alley'
Here at Ouse View in Fulford residents had an exciting time testing their skills at a new game of ‘Tin-Can-Alley’. Activities ladies, Angie and Natasa enjoy coming up with new ideas for residents here and where thrilled to see how much residents enjoyed themselves as they knocked over the cans – ‘that’s a strike!’
The fun didn't stop there, residents declared that we needed to practice for the next Olympics games. Watch out as Ouse View teams are ready to be called to the podium!
Keep Fit with Ouse View
At Ouse View in Fulford we wanted to kick off the New Year with a fun and energizing keep fit session. Our residents had a blast moving to the music and getting their bodies moving. It was a great way to start off the year on a positive note, and we could all feel the endorphins flowing as we exercised together.
Not only is keeping fit important for maintaining physical health and mobility, but it's also a great way to boost mood and social engagement. Our residents had a great time connecting with each other and having fun as they exercised with balloons.
We're looking forward to incorporating more keep fit sessions into our weekly routine and hope to see even more of our residents joining in and getting active. Here's to a happy and healthy new year!
