Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Ascot Celebrations

We marked the annual Royal Ascot races in style as we dressed to impress, put on our favourite hats and participated in a free to enter sweepstake.

Our residents enjoyed the event from the comfort of the home, we watched the races, had conversations about the Royal Ascot fashion and celebrated the occasion with a glass or two of fizz and delicious treats.

We all had great fun.

Return of Mans Best Friend

They say a dog is man’s best friend and here at Ouse View Bruno is certainly the firm favourite of a number of our residents. We love our monthly visits from Bruno where he enjoys treats from the residents and shows us all his clever tricks. He travels around the home and visits all of our residents to give everyone the opportunity to be involved.

It has been proven many times that pet visits can improve the self-esteem and confidence, and encourage independence in residents in a care environment. We like to assist our residents to continue being as independent as they are able to.

National Candy Month

June is National Candy Month UK, and to celebrate the occasion Residents here at Ouse View made chocolate apple lollipops. Starting with real apple slices, followed with a generous coating of milk chocolate, and finished off with edible gold metallic glitter spray everyone agreed they were Golden Delicious!

Fitness Fantastic

Residents at Ouse View were delighted this week to have Mark, a specialist physical instructor, put them through their paces. The colourful resistance bands were especially popular, and we look forward to using them again soon.

Platinum Jubilee celebrations Part 2

Residents at Ouse View absolutely loved the fantastic food which the Chefs Eve Goodger and Sean Cawker provided for the Jubilee Lunch this week, we just can’t stop talking about it!

Delicious dishes from smoked salmon and cream cheese, fresh from the oven Yorkshire sausage rolls with sweet treats including the famous award winning Pudding. A feast fit for a Queen.

Once again, Happy Jubilee Your Majesty from everyone at our home here at Ouse View, it is now time to plan the next party.

Jubilee Celebrations Part 1

Residents at Ouse View celebrated in style and a sea of red white and blue for our Big Platinum Jubilee Lunch. Our in house Chefs, Eve Goodger and Sean Cawker, conjured up the most fabulous buffet, including the official Platinum Pudding, leaving everyone singing their well-deserved praises. A special guest even popped up to share our day, and posed happily for instant photos with our partygoers.

Happy Jubilee Your Majesty from everyone at our home here at Ouse View.
