Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

STAR SINGER

Residents at Ouse View thoroughly enjoyed some live Sunday afternoon entertainment, toe-tapping, clapping and singing along to 1950's and 60's songs with Matt. They even called for an encore, and got one. We're looking forward to welcoming Matt back very soon.

Time to Dance!

Residents at Ouse View today enjoyed a Bank Holiday music session. They had great fun singing, dancing and playing percussion to accompany a selection of golden oldies.

Conversations by the Pond

We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.

Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.

The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.

Blue Light Breakfast April 2022

Staff at Ouse View in Fulford have held an outdoor Blue Light breakfast this morning for all local emergency services personnel in their local area. As a way of saying thank you to the paramedics, fire services, police officers and other emergency services workers who don’t always have time to go home or back to their workplace on their break, the team at Ouse View provide free food and drink to emergency service staff, and will continue to do this, on the last Thursday of each month between the hours of 9.30am–11.30am.

Melissa Armitage the Homes Services Advisor, “I would like to say a huge thank you to white crew from the fire services for coming along to the first event, Mike Jamieson, Oliver Bone, Steve Simpson and Luke Garnett. We’re looking forward to welcoming you the event next month”

St George's Day!

Today, Residents at Ouse View arranged lovely table centres ready for our St. George’s Day festive lunch. The dining room will look very smart with our vibrant red and white creations, and we can’t wait to wave those flags for real.

St George's Day Preparations

Just as we turn the corner from Easter, Residents here at Ouse View are preparing for St. George’s Day. They’ve been busy making flags and banners to decorate the dining room ready for a festive lunch on the day.
