Activities at Overslade House Care Home
Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.
At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.
We definitely have something for everyone!
Julie Bateman
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.

Life at Overslade House Care Home
National Drink Wine Day
Here at Overslade House we decided to celebrate with the best pairing for a glass of wine - cheese and biscuits. We had wine and soft drinks available in the Coffee Shop this afternoon and invited our residents to pop in if they fancied it. We had a great turnout, enjoyed by all.
National Random Acts of Kindness Day
Today our Memory Lane residents got busy creating small bunches of flowers for the staff at Overslade House. On behalf of the residents we dropped the flowers around the home ready for staff to find on their belongings when they go home, we hope this gives our staff a little smile at the end of the day and is just a small token of appreciation for all their hard work and dedication.
Thank you to Asda (Rugby) for donating the flowers that allowed us to do this… and for the beautiful Valentine’s hamper, our residents and staff are truly grateful for your support and generosity!
If you can be anything today, be kind!
Pancake Day 2021
On Pancake Day we all had a “flipping” fantastic day! Making our own pancakes and having fun flipping them. Chef prepared some fresh ones for lunch and, it’s safe to say that everyone enjoyed loading them with their favourite toppings.
The Friendly Bench Project Community Project
During the run up to Valentine’s Day we were honoured to be part of The Friendly Bench Valentine’s display. It gave our residents a great project to focus on, learning new skills such as poetry writing and finger print painting. Our residents cannot wait to visit “The Friendly Bench” when it is safe to do so and we can’t wait to take them!
We think that we have built a strong friendship with Jill and the team and we can’t wait to see what other projects we can get involved in.
Valentine’s Messages of Love
In the run up to Valentine’s Day our residents have been extremely busy. There has been a range of activities’ going on around the home including; cooking love heart biscuits, hand making Valentine’s cards, poetry classes (which produced 2 beautiful love poems) and finger print heart decorating! We also did a Valentine’s photo shoot and the photo’s turned out beautifully!
Employee of the Month - February 2021
Staff and Residents at Overslade House wish to congratulate "Emma" from our Activities team on receiving Employee of the Month for February 2021.
Emma is such an asset to the team, committed to providing our residents with interesting and life enriching activities that really make a difference. We do hope she treats herself to something special with her £25 Gift Voucher.
