Activities at Pentland View Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Pentland View Care Home

Trip to Wick for lunch and shopping
Babs and Nancy recently enjoyed a trip to Wick for shopping and lunch in Tesco’s café.
The ladies had a good laugh on the bus on the way there, and greatly enjoyed their lunch in the café! After lunch, we walked around and the ladies had an opportunity to shop for anything that they would like.
It was lovely to get out on a sunny day and enjoy each other’s company while having a good browse, especially through the sales racks!

Christmas, but make it fashion!
Residents, staff and guests were recently invited to don their festive finest and walk the catwalk.
We even had furry entrants, in the form of Murphy and Ollie wearing their Christmas jumpers!
Everyone had a right giggle and a great time and then enjoyed a Bailey’s hot chocolate after.

Our new friends at Pennyland School
Recently, we have forged a connection with Pennyland Primary School.
We had the p4 and 4/5 class, as well as the p6 class in to carol for us, and the residents were all delighted!
The children all were brilliant and sure brought plenty of Christmas cheer and excitement. To further the Christmas merriment, Reena and Gwen also took a trip to the school’s carol service St. Peter’s and St Andrew’s Church.
Both ladies absolutely loved the service and sang along to every song. They were even greeted by the students and teachers, who recognised them from their visits!

Candle making with Caithness Candle Company
Sandra, Reena, Isabella T, and Elspeth recently enjoyed a candle making workshop with Caithness Candle Company.
Bronwyn was kind enough to bring in a selection of her holiday scents for the ladies to choose from and then walked them through the mixing and pouring process.
The ladies enjoyed chatting away as they smelled all of the oils, all choosing the same scent! The lounge smelled absolutely wonderful and it was a full on sensory experience.
Once the candles were set, the ladies were all presented with their own candles, with personalised “hand poured by” labels.

Trip with sister home, Seaview, to see the local pantomime, Peter Pan
Pentland View and Seaview joined together to attend a Saturday matinee performance of the Thurso Player’s production of Peter Pan. Oh yes we did!!
The residents enjoyed getting together with their friends from Wick, having some tasty treats, and laughing, singing, dancing and shouting along to the panto. It was made extra special by the additions of activity coordinators children and also our chef Jane to the outing!
It was a real family affair and everyone had a brilliant time. Afterwards, everyone got to meet and chat with the cast.

Residents enjoy live performance with Brandon McPhee
Residents and guests at Pentland View care home in Thurso enjoyed an afternoon of grins with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local favourites, Brandon McPhee performed a selection of classic hits, and played bot the accordion and guitar.
Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as Brandon performed both classic Scottish tunes, as well as Christmas favourites.
