Activities at Pentland View Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Cheers to Your Health!
On World Beer Day residents enjoyed a sampling of beers from around the world, as well as nibbles to go with. For those who don’t like beer, there were cocktails and soft drinks on hand so that they, too, could join in on the fun! Residents toasted each other and enjoyed their tastings and spent the afternoon chatting and listening to their favourite toons while enjoying pineapple, cheese and crisps.
Monthly Takeaway night a hit!
Residents once again enjoyed their monthly takeaway night. Each resident chose which type of takeaway they fancied, and we went to three different places this month to satisfy everyone’s cravings. Food was enjoyed from Robin’s Chippy, Pride of Bengal Indian Takeaway and Thurso’s Best Kebab. Residents enjoyed their meals along with glasses of fizzy and good chat from good company!
Residents have 'wheelie' good time!
Residents and staff have been cruising the town with Cycling Without Age Scotland’s Thurso branch and its lovely volunteers.
Staff and residents have enjoyed regular visits from the local group, which provides the opportunity for people to get out and about in the fresh air and enjoy the joys of cycling again. Seated safely in the purpose-built trishaw, passengers are then cycled around the town and local points of interest. Residents have particularly enjoyed going round the boating pond and river, as well as riding down along the esplanade at the beach. Often, they meet people who they know along the way and stop to chat, and they always enjoy waving to people along the way.
He's behind you! Resident enjoy panto performance
Residents and staff were in for a treat with a visit from travelling Theatre Company Theatre Presto, performing their pantomime “Oor Boabie: Brooned Aff Abroad.” (oh no they didn’t! Oh yes they did!)
Residents from the home were joined by relatives and staff as they enjoyed the timeless tale full of magical twists, fun, laughter and adventures. One resident commented; “ It’s such fun! I love singing along to all of the songs!”
Activities coordinator, Jeanine Sinclair, said: “Residents, staff and guest all had a great time travelling the world with Bobby and singing along as we went! We always try to maintain a full schedule of activities and events on our Life Enrichment calendar, and musical events are always very popular!”
Homes join 100th virtual event
Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Cycling Without Age trips
Cycling Without Age Scotland, Thurso Chapter is up and running! As such, they have been in touch when the weather cooperates and have taken residents out for rides on their trishaw! We have also had family out with residents recently. It’s a lovely way to see the town and enjoy the nice days when they come! Our record breaking cyclist, Willie, sure did enjoy his time out and was telling them all about how he peddled without gears! Here we have Rena and Willie enjoying their trip out and along the beach.
