We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Shannon Cullen
Hi, my name is Shannon and I am Head of Lifestyle and Enrichment here at Queens Manor. I have come to Queens Manor with 6 years of experience in the planning, activities and events sector.
I ensure that myself and the team get to know each resident's preferences so that we can deliver a person-centred programme of events and activities within the home - Including activities that positively impact physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. I strongly believe that creating great moments and memories for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities is the way forward.
In an era of developing technologies, we are using new ways of reaching out to family and friends - though Zoom, Skype and Facebook Portal. We hope that our residents never feel alone or too far away from their loved ones this way. Each day I like to ensure that our residents enjoy themselves in a calm, stimulating and fun environment, whilst creating bonds with each other and staff.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Virtual event with Royal Parks
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Walking Club
A little rain won’t keep us away! Here we have Alec enjoying a walk in the garden - despite a little drizzle!
Although we don’t mind the wet, I think we can all say that with Christmas and new year out the way - we are now looking forward to summer.
Outings at Queens Manor
First outing of the new year & the ladies wanted to go for a walk around the shops and stop for a coffee and a piece of cake!
Valerie, Isabella and Rosemary thoroughly enjoyed their little outing and can’t wait to do it again
International Toffee Day
Residents, staff and visitors were all delighted when they saw staff appear with a trolley full of sweet treats!
To celebrate the day, Erika loaded the trolley with different flavours of toffee for all to enjoy and too it round the home - ensuring that everyone got offered a piece!
Happy New Year!
As this year comes to a close - we would like to thank everyone who has been a part of the Queens Manor family this year - from residents, family and friends, to staff, entertainers, working professionals and volunteers.
Today we enjoyed our Hogmanay socials and had a drink to celebrate the new year coming in and reminisced of all the things we have achieved this year!
Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
