Activities at Rivermead Care Home
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered programme of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.
Nicola Bedford
Hi, My name is Nicola and I am the activity coordinator for Rivermead. I plan and deliver a range of interactive and stimulating activities throughout the week for all the residents.
We focus our planning through person centred care, meaning the activities we deliver are tailored to each of the residents individual choice and interests.
It’s a very rewarding job role to be in, seeing the residents enjoy their lives to the best of their abilities and enhancing their experiences, building and maintaining friendships and supporting their wellbeing.

Keep residents connected
Residents are overjoyed at Rivermead care home in Norton, Malton as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting pod for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.
Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.
There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Rivermead care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.
Home receive community gift
Residents and colleagues at Rivermead were delighted to answer the door to accept a special delivery which was dropped off by Lucy Fletcher in the shape of a bag of goodies from the Body Shop UK for everyone to enjoy and in recognition of the homes hard working, dedicated team supporting Residents during this difficult period.
Harvest fun
Residents and staff members at Rivermead celebrated the Harvest Festival by creating a colourful display for the home as part of the entry to Barchester’s Harvest competition.
The occasion was also marked with light refreshments which really helped everyone at the home get into the spirit of the festival
Residents enjoy bird watching
Residents at Rivermead having been spending some happy hours looking out at the homes beautiful surroundings and have been monitoring their garden for flying visitors as part of their bird watch. The home has been attaching finches, starling and many more and have been keeping note of the birds they have spotted and discussing each one. Each time a new bird is spotted they hang it on the tree!
