Activities at Rivermead Care Home

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered programme of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Nicola Bedford

Activities Coordinator

Hi, My name is Nicola and I am the activity coordinator for Rivermead. I plan and deliver a range of interactive and stimulating activities throughout the week for all the residents.

We focus our planning through person centred care, meaning the activities we deliver are tailored to each of the residents individual choice and interests.

It’s a very rewarding job role to be in, seeing the residents enjoy their lives to the best of their abilities and enhancing their experiences, building and maintaining friendships and supporting their wellbeing.

'Tis the season for good cheer!

Christmas cheer was in full flow as residents, staff, family & friends got together to share a giggle and a tipple at our home’s Christmas Party.

We were in full swing dressing up for the occasion and dancing along to live music, enjoying games and relishing in a scrumptious feast of festive foods, freshly prepared by our chef, Sarah Lightfoot and her team.

We're always striving to make sure we have lots of fun events and activities on for our residents and Christmas is an extra special time so it was amazing to see everyone having such a wonderful time together.

25 Years Strong!

A very special long service award has been celebrated today! Our Care Practitioner Sharon Ward’s dedication has been recognised with a ’25 Year Service Award’. Sharon is such a vital part of the team here at Rivermead and staff, families and above all, our residents think the world of her. Residents Enjoy Pop-up Theatre

Residents recently enjoyed a cultural visit to the Shakespeare Rose Pop-up theatre in York to take in the delights of this famous Bard and to see a performance of Twelfth night. The trip was extra special for resident, Tina as her grand-daughter, Leandra took central stage with a major role in the performance.

Angela Lawson, Activities coordinator said “It was lots of fun and a wonderful way for us to spend time together and think about Shakespeare and his work. Conversation flowed as we took a look into some of his famous quotes and there was always something everyone recognised and could remember – which just goes to show the influence of the Bard on us all, even over 400 years after his death.''

Resident Joins Son for Pub Lunch

Rivermead's resident, Lena recently took a trip to visit her son, Stuart who resides at sister home, Castle Park care home in Hull. The inter-home visits are important to Lena and her son. Stuart on this occasion they chose to take in the delights of a local pub for a spot of lunch.

Stuart was also proud to present his Mum with a beautiful framed photo of her, Lena was delighted to show off this wonderful gift as they enjoyed some quality time together.

Angela Lawson, activities coordinator said “It was a pleasure to be able to be take Lena to visit her son as often as possible and everyone had a lovely day out
