Activities at Ross Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Burns Night Celebrations

Ross Court residents really enjoyed celebrating Burn's Night. Starting with a quiz, reciting some Burns Poetry which led to some chuckles, whiskey tasting and a traditional Scottish menu with the haggis piped in.

,

International Flower Day

Residents marked international flower day with a flower word search, flower crossword and a flower quiz.  We also took advantage of the sun again enjoying another walk around the beautiful gardens of Ross Court, the snowdrops are nearly all in bloom and the crocuses are just popping their heads up.

,

Winter Walks

We had a lovely winter garden walk with some residents today, we saw lots of squirrels, looked at different plants and enjoyed the crisp fresh air.

Shake and Wake!

This week residents danced and showed off their moves with shake and wake, had a giggle with balloon tennis and took winter walks around the Ross Court grounds.  Keeping active is so important for us all and there are so many fun ways to get us all moving.

Happy Birthday Elvis

Elvis was born on 8th January 1935, so he would have been celebrating his 87th Birthday.  Ross Court marked the day with an Elvis quiz, his fantastic music playing and the hit of the day was the residents being photographed with the King of Rock and Roll himself.

Eventful Day

To start the new year we created our own word search, there was plenty of concentration all round.  Later in the day we travelled around different parts of the world via YouTube.  Residents were asked where they were born or a place they loved and remembered, which led to adventures to China, Egypt, Northampton, Midsomer Norton, Bath, Belfast and back to Ross.  Our Ross adventure led to us watching a documentary on the old Ross Railway Line.  It was a lovely enjoyable afternoon accompanied by tea and cakes.
