Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Autumnal Baking

Residents at Rothsay Grange indulged in some autumnal baking Cherry, spiced apple and pumpkin pies were made and were a great success! The home was filled with beautiful smells and all the residents enjoyed tasting their pies once they had cooked.

Pumpkin Carving

Residents had great time carving pumpkins ready for our Halloween party. We had lots of pumpkins to carve. We printed off some templates, but you can’t beat getting stuck in and letting your imagination run wild.

Baking Fun

Residents had a fantastic time baking a chocolate cake. We learned how to make tempered chocolate by our Head Chef. The best part of it all was eating the cake with a lovely cup of tea.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday celebrations this year have been very different for all of us, but particularly for our residents. Rose turned 90 this month, so her family had a socially distanced visit with her in the morning, and then we threw her a surprise party in the afternoon!

All of Rose’s friends here at Rothsay attended the party, where they enjoyed a lovely buffet with a beautiful homemade cake. We sang along to songs and played different party games that Rose chose.

Cream Tea Afternoon

We had a fun-filled cream tea-themed afternoon. As always. the tea was flowing, and we spoke about the way people say scones and about the history of The Boston Tea Party.

Garden Visit

We have welcomed back our residents' families and friends for social distancing garden visits. Our residents and their loved ones have really loved being able to see each other again after months of being away from each other. We have been doing Skype calls with the residents and they have really loved it, however, it’s just hasn’t been the same.
