Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.
Irene & Leah
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
Mothers Day Celebrations
Mother’s Day residents were treated to afternoon tea with Prosecco. Anne, said the homemade scones with butter, jam and clotted cream were delicious. We had virtual entertainment from The Bel Canto Sopranos who sang songs from the famous film ‘The Sound of Music’ and sang ‘You Will Never Walk Alone’ in honour of Sir Captain Tom Moore.
A gift for our local young carers
Residents made up hanging baskets and potted flowers for the Young Carers Charity in Andover to gift to their mothers for Mother’s Day. They really enjoyed giving something back and making others feel special.
Chinese New Year
Residents at Rothsay Grange celebrated Chinese New Year: the year of the ox. We had homemade Chinese food, and the residents said the food was delicious, watching traditional dragon dancing. We found out residents' horoscope animal and their meanings. The residents was given fortune cookies; their fortune said they would have good friendships and a lot of laughter.
International Flower Day
Residents at Rothsay Grange celebrated International Flower Day by arranging their own different types of flowers in different objects, including a watering can, a cocktail glass, plant pots, and the list goes on.
Residents had time reminiscing about flowers being received by their loved ones. They are looking forward to getting out into our garden in the summer to do some gardening.
Celebrating the King
On 8th January 2020, the King of Rock 'n' roll would have turned 86 years old. Rothsay Grange’s residents celebrated this by having an Elvis-themed quiz and sang happy birthday to the much-beloved man.
We also played our favourite hits. There is still a lot of love here for Elvis, and it was nice hearing the tales from the residents on what movies they saw and what their parents thought about it all.
One resident said her mother told her she was not to watch him as he danced and wriggled with his hips. Everyone thought it was very funny. The kitchen made us a beautiful cake with candles so we could sing happy birthday to him before we had a slice of cake and a good old cup of tea.
World Food Day
Residents and staff celebrated World Food Day by asking family, friends and staff to bring in items for our local food bank.
As you can see, we have been very lucky with all the generous donations from everyone. Residents and staff coloured in turkeys and hedgehogs and wrote on them what they are thankful for. The gentleman who picked up the food was very pleased with the donations.
