Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.
Irene & Leah
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
Sue and Dee singing
Just the 2 of us was with again to sing our residents favourite songs, all residents was singing along. Sue and Dee brought sparkly hats that matched their shoes so the residents could shine like a diamond.
Rita's dream day in the New Forest
Dreams do come true, Rita wanted her perfect day to be in the New Forest with a picnic and friends.
As soon as we drove into the forest we saw horses, foals, cows. Dog walkers and people running.
It was a warm day so we found a nice cool spot to have our lunch picnic. As we set up a big black Labrador dog come up to say hello.
We all had a chat with his owner who told us a little about the part of the woods we were in he lived local to the area.
We also had some horses walk behind us as we were eating. The drive there and back was so enjoyable as we saw lots of horses grazing along the verge.
Rita was over the moon to be there with the horses, she used to work with horses and told us about her and the days she taught children to ride and the disabled.
Another day of meeting with the community and having fun.
World Chocolate Day
7th July saw us enjoy a day of all things chocolate, we had fun with a chocolate quiz in the morning and talking about our most loved chocolate bars from when we were children.
In the afternoon we had a chocolate fountain and lots of different chocolates to try and fruit to dip.
WE even got Chris from maintenance to join us. The residents got him to try the chocolate he did not need much persuasion.
We then put melted chocolate into bowls as this is a better way just in case of allergies, we all enjoyed a nice bowl of warm melted chocolate and we dipped the fruit wow it was great.
Hilliers Garden Centre Trip
On 17th July John said he would like to visit the garden centre, he choose to go to Hilliers. John and Dennis enjoyed looking at all the different kind of foods on offer some we did not know.
We went out to look at the flowers and come across a butterfly bush which had lots of butterfly’s and bee’s on it. We chatted to staff and other customers as we walked round the shop.
John ordered a bread pudding which led us to him reminisce about his Grandma and his visits to see her, she made the best bread pudding he told us.
Dennis had a victory sponge he was amazed at the size of it, he was also over the moon that he could pour himself the tea from a pot. He told us about how they used to use tea pots when he was a child.
Some people say that taking residents out to garden centres is not a good trip to do but our residents love it and today has proved that you can learn so very much about a person with just a tea pot, just a piece of bread pudding. We had fun, we met the community, we saw wild life, we learnt something new about two of our residents.
The whole trip was just about our two lovely men, they relived days gone by, met some of the community so all in all a very good trip out.
An Afternoon on the Farm
Residents at Rothsay Grange had a great time down on the farm, we gained permission from the owners of the horses you can see.
They got John to help them with the horse's too.
Rita used to run a riding school and she was in her element there and did not want to get back on the bus bless her.
We sat and watched the world go by oh and trains. We also heard a lot of birds singing but could not work out the song.
it was an amazing, relaxing time with cool drinks and an ice cream. What more could you ask for.
We would like to thank the owner of the horses who let us help.
A Dream Coming True
This is a big dream coming true for our head of unit Annmarie, She wanted to come in on her day off and take her floor to the beach so we come up with a plan to do this. Floor staff also come along to enjoy the day meeting us there on their time off too.
The residents enjoyed fish and chips right on the beach with ice lolly s on the way home.
It was that nice some went off for a paddle too. We have one more trip for this floor then it will be the next two floors turn to feel the sand between their toes too.
It is a great felling bringing dreams to life but this is life at Rothsay Grange we aim to please.
