Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Slithers & Wriggles

Slithers & Wriggles

On 14th June, we welcomed back to Rothsay Grange Slithers & Wriggles, our local mobile zoo. Residents got to hold learn about about small white tree frogs, a lovely little hedgehog, bearded dragons and lots more. This time, residents got very brave and held some of the animals. They loved seeing them all and learning about them.

National Fish & Chip Day

National Fish & Chip Day

National Fish & Chip Day (1st June) was marked by the residents of Rothsay Grange with – you guessed it – fish and chips!. A few residents choose to have them in the lounge, as we could not use the minibus for a trip out.

Residents had a great time eating with their fingers and from the box. We reminisced about days gone by and how we used to eat them out of newspaper. One resident said she used to ask for scraps, but you can’t do that these days. Ben joined us with a man-sized portion of chips, which he couldn't finish.

All of us enjoyed the afternoon so much that we stayed on and chatted until it was time for the next activity.

Baking Club

Baking Club

We enjoyed a different kind of baking club, as we made ice cream. The smell was amazing and the ladies and gents decided that they would save it to eat whilst watching the royal wedding on 19th May.

The 4 Toons

The 4 Toons

On the 18th May, the 4 Toons visited Rothsay Grange. The crazy group of four sang some well-known songs and had a little quiz with Irene the Activities Coordinator; she got two out of three with lots of help from the residents, and won a cuddle toy, but gave it away. The 4 Toons got the residents to play the maracas and sing along. They seemed to know all the words and had a great afternoon. We look forward to when they come back in December.

Pamper Day

Pamper Day

9th May saw Rothsay ladies having a pamper morning with Activities Coordinator, Irene, who is a qualified nail technician and beauty therapist.

The ladies queued up in the coffee lounge and had drinks and some very yummy homemade cakes and biscuits, which were made by the very talented on site chefs.

Time got to us and the lunch trolley arrived, so it had to run on into the afternoon after our chair yoga session. The afternoon went as quick as the morning; the yoga was hard, but very good.
