Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Don't Dine Alone

Don't Dine Alone

Rothsay Grange opened its doors to a number of people from the community to help tackle loneliness. They invited anyone who would usually dine alone to join them for a meal.

Diners were treated to a tasty lunch in the home’s dining room. Guests had a chance to chat to staff and residents while enjoying their food. The guests came from Andover’s Copper Beech Day Centre; the group call themselves 'The Recycled Wrinklies' and, after dinner, some of the them joined in with the home's afternoon activity.

Family BBQ

Here at Rothsay Grange, we arranged a family BBQ for residents, families members and staff of the home on Saturday 2nd September. This was a huge success and everyone really enjoyed the afternoon out in the sunshine. Residents and their families really liked mingling with everyone who visited the home on this occasion.

Marwell Zoo Trip

Marwell Zoo Trip

Residents enjoyed taking a trip to our local zoo on Monday 4th September, where we got to visit lots of different animals in their enclosures. The giraffes were a huge hit with residents, as one resident was wowed by being so close to them. We stopped for our delicious picnic that was prepared by our in-house chefs with a nice hot cuppa whilst sat watching the zebras.

Stockbridge Town

We loaded on to the minibus and headed to the lovely town of Stockbridge, where we walked up the high street looking at all the quaint shops before stopping at the pond to view the ducks and fish. We chatted to the locals then headed to Lillie’s Tearooms for a slice of cake and a cuppa. The sun shone as we walked back to the bus; it had been a lovely afternoon.

Country & Western Afternoon

Rothsay Grange had an afternoon hoe down with one of our favourite acts, Cosmic Sparkle, who performed lots of country and western-themed songs. Residents and staff slapped on the cowboy hats for the afternoon, sang along to all the popular songs and enjoyed an afternoon tea with lots of yummy cake. Everyone who came had a dandy time!

The Good Life Farm Shop

One of our weekly trips was to Kings Worthy near Winchester to The Good Life Farm Shop and café. The weather was splendid and we enjoyed pottering around the shop and looking at all the quirky foods before stopping for a cold beverage and some cake.
