Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

ALIVE

ALIVE

Here at Rothsay we had a fantastic afternoon welcoming back Malcolm from ALIVE activities. He did a mixture of activities, from a light exercise with a giant balloon ball to music quizzes. Malcolm got everyone engaged and involved, which made for a lovely atmosphere among residents. He had some great feedback and we are looking forward to seeing him again in the new uear for some more fun.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday 12th November, here at Rothsay Grange, we got together in one of the lounges to watch the service being held at Cenotaph on television. We held a 2 minutes silence and then we all chatted about wartime. There were lots of memories amongst the residents who attended. In the afternoon, we had a lovely service from the Salvation Army, who marked Remembrance Sunday. The residents enjoyed having a day of reflection.

Remember, Remember

Remember, Remember

On the evening of Sunday 5th November, some residents, loved ones and staff members ventured outside whilst some stayed in the warm to see Rothsay’s very own fireworks display. After the fantastic display, everyone came inside to enjoy a luxury hot chocolate and cookies. There was a buzzing atmosphere in the home and everyone who came along enjoyed the evening.

Halloween Festivities

Halloween Festivities

We were certainly busy for Halloween this year, with a themed arts and baking club, which was then followed by pumpkin carving and our Halloween tea party, where we had a spooktacular time with yummy cakes and entertainment from Helen. Residents enjoyed singing and clapping along to the array of music she performed.

Poppies Nursery Visit

Poppies Nursery Visit

Poppies Day Nursery children visited the home on Friday 20th October. There were 8 children that came with their 3 leaders and, when they arrived, were greeted with juice and biscuits before meeting the residents.

The children were very excited and full of energy and enjoyed interacting with residents with toys and games. We sang nursery rhymes together before finishing the session with a story read by one of the residents. We look forward to having them visit again in December and the forthcoming months.
