Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.
Irene & Leah
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
1950s Afternoon
On Thursday 24th August, we decorated the dining room in 1950s décor for a fun filled '50s-themed party. There was entertainment from the fantastic Dave Dawson, who sung a number of '50s hits, from Elvis to Billy Fury. Residents enjoyed singing along, tapping their toes and clapping their hands. Delicious refreshments were available as well.
Movement to Music
One of our regular activities is Movement to Music; Irene tends to get the residents in full swing with gentle exercises to a nice beat, then finishes up with relaxing movements and stretches. Everyone enjoys this activity, as this helps them to keep mobile.
Slithers & Wriggles
We welcomed a new mobile petting zoo, 'Slithers & Wriggles', into the home. They brought a fantastic selection of animals, including tortoises, snakes, centipedes, skunks and a raccoon dog, to name a few. The animals were well received by residents and lots of questions were asked to the handlers. The afternoon was a great success and we look forward to having them back in the near future.
Troubadour Productions
Troubadour Productions came to Rothsay Grange to present their summer production of 'Planes and Boats and Trains'. It was a fun-filled afternoon for the residents who attended.
They sang some well-known songs that everyone could sing along to, including 'Come Fly With Me', 'We're All Going on a Summer Holiday', 'The Locomotion' and 'Don’t Rock the Boat', to name a just a few.
We look forward to welcoming them back on 15th December for their 'Snow Queen' Christmas production.
Mudeford Beach
The sun was shining bright when we planned to take a trip to Mudeford Beach. With everything packed and ready to go, we headed to Mudeford and, by the time we arrived, it was lunchtime, so we had some fish and chips. After a nice stroll along the beach, we then stopped for some yummy ice cream.
A Morning Trip
We visited the local garden centre for a cuppa and a sneaky piece of cake before lunch. The ladies that joined us had a lovely morning pottering around the flowers and browsing the store.
