Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.
Irene & Leah
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Open Day Afternoon
On the afternoon of our Open day, we had the lovely Paul Nicholas come anf sing to the residents and visitors. We welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Test Valley Councillor Carl Borg-Neal to spend the afternoon with us, He interacted with the resdients, visitors and staff where he answered plenty of questons and enjoyed the entertainment, tea and cake all homade by our onsite chef.
Open Day Morning
On the morning of Friday 20th January we had our open day where we invited friends of the home and general public to come and view our home. We decided to have a coffee morning in our coffee shop area, where we gathered with some residents for morning coffee and a general knowledge quiz. Residents enjoyed having a chat over cake and hot drinks before the quiz commenced.
Beth Hough
One of our regular entertainers Beth Hough came and entertained our residents with her 40's,50's unique singing voice. Residents clapped and sang along with her, Beth got all the residents into the swing when she played her harmonica and accordion.
Zoo Lab
We had Zoo Lab come and visit the home with some very unique animals, as we all got interactive with the various creatures, we learnt lots of information about each one. Some residents loved handling and touching them whilst others didnt like to even look at them for too long. Zoo Lab brought a good mixture for creepy crawlies from right around the world such as a Giant Land Snail, Cockroach, Trantula, Snake, Rat and Hamster. All these animals were pets of the the presenter that brought them to us and they all had names. All the residents enjoyeD learning new facts about the animals and finding out where they all orginated from.
New Years Eve Afternoon Party
Rothsay Grange celebrated the New Year with some Fantastic entertainment from Gary Roman singing a good mixture of Rock 'n' Roll, Country and Pop. Gary made a good show with serenading all the residents and relatives, the dining room was decorated in silver and black and everyone wore party hats to help get in the celebratory mood. Residents delved into some delicious homemade cakes, biscuits and the tea was flowing. Everyone had a fabulous party and said what a lovely time they had.
Christmas Cake Competition
It was that kind of year again, so we had residents design a cake they wanted to enter into the competition. We used a staff member's old secret cake recipe which turned out really well. Residents took part in mazipanning and icing the cake for its final pictures and, after this, they all enjoyed sampling the cake when it was cut.
