Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home
Nutrition and Hydration Week
Our residents and staff took part in this year’s Nutrition and Hydration Week.
Throughout the week, we focused on fun-filled educational activities on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing, sensory and tasting sessions.
Members of our talented hospitality team prepared delicious mocktails and fresh nutritious dishes, containing super snacks, fruit salads and smoothies for all to enjoy.
A fabulous time was had by all.
Crufts
Residents and staff at Sherwood Court nursing Home in Preston are loving the return of the world’s largest dog show, Crufts. Residents at the home are all keen animal lovers and are delighted that Crufts is back after what felt like a very long wait.
Canine fans at Sherwood Court have been glued to the screens to watch the pups being put through their paces. They have been avidly watching the judging of all the different breeds and waiting to see which dogs have been selected to go through to the next round of judging. But best of all they love the agility competitions where the dogs all seem to have so much fun!
British Pie Week
It’s British Pie Week! Throughout one of the most delicious weeks of the year, our residents got involved in fun-filled activities and pie tasting sessions.
Pies are considered as a British National dish and we spent some time learning about the history of pies and exploring different recipes.
Our talented chef prepared residents’ favourite pies, so we can all enjoy them, from British Fish Pie to Chicken and Mushroom Pie and Cheese and Onion Pie.
Of course we focused on the sweet side of pies too with Choc Chip Pecan Pie and Cherry Crumble Pie.
We all had a wonderful time.
Virtual tour of Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
Pancake Day
The first day of March was busy as we marked not only St David’s Fay but also Pancake Day. Pancake Day or Shove Tuesday is the traditional feast day before the Lent on Ash Wednesday.
Our residents had a wonderful day, filled with pancake-inspired activities, they prepared homemade pancakes and decorated them with fresh fruit, berries, syrup and chocolate.
We watched some hilarious pancake races and some of our residents took part in our very own pancake flipping competition.
Colourful blooms
Residents at Sherwood Court enjoy flower arranging as the beautiful plants fill the room with a wonderful scent. The ladies used their creative flair to create wonderful displays to decorate their rooms and communal areas of the home for all to see. It was a colourful session and conversation flowed as they talked about their favourite plants and flowers.
