Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

World Chocolate Day
Today we revelled in all things sweet for World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolatey activities. Our residents enjoyed an exciting arts and crafts session, tasting experience, where they had the chance to try different chocolate bars from all over the world, there is no guilt here! In the afternoon, we took part in themed quiz, tasted our delicious treats and had a discussion about all things chocolate. A wonderful day was had by all.
Dr Tim Howard discusses book
Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.
The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.
Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.
Puppy love
Here at Sherwood Court we are very lucky to have Ruby visit every week. Ruby is a 13 week old Staffordshire bull terrier and our residents enjoy their regular pet therapy visits. Pets can be a life saver for residents with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Dogs can offer affection and unconditional love, dogs can actually decrease stress, depression and anxiety whilst also bringing lots of fun to residents and staff alike.
Virtual book event
Our residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.
Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.
Our residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world. A great time was had by all.
Birthday celebrations in style!
Everyone here at Sherwood Court enjoyed a magical fun-filled afternoon to celebrate resident, June's 80-years young birthday.
The birthday girl was treated to a special performance by popular entertainer, Geno who dressed as the 'King' to perform a medley of Elvis hits by one of June's favourite artists.
June was surrounded by family, friends and colleagues for her birthday treat and was delighted to receive a specially prepared cake.
Happy birthday, June from everyone at Sherwood Court!
Virtual singing session
Our homes had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.
Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.
There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.
