Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

World Kindness Day

This day encourages people to move away from self-centeredness and focus on collective well-being, proving that compassion and kindness are universal languages understood by all.

So with that in mind, we have been out this morning with residents Pauline and Annie to show kindness to the well deserving RSPCA at Preston.

Pauline has been knitting squares for months and with the help of our front of house Louise, these were sewn together to make warm blankets for the dogs and cats at our local RSPCA shelter which we delivered today on World Kindness Day!

We were lucky enough to meet Dora, the 14-year-old sausage dog and Connie, the beautiful Dogue de Bordeaux who is 3. We then went into the Cattery where we met Arthur and Queenie before meeting 4 beautiful kittens.

The RSPCA work tirelessly to look after dogs and cats who from no fault of their own end up needing their love, care and kindness, as well as providing shelter and food. We hope they love our blankets as much as our residents loved their visit.

Remembrance Day Commemoration

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

On Monday, residents took time to remember, and then in the afternoon they celebrated our fallen with wartime songs.

The wonderful Rachel Mercer came in uniform to perform and wowed our Residents with her vocal talent.

Visit to Blackpool

Who can spot the tower?!

Residents Trevor, Mary , Annie and June certainly did when last night they went off out on their travels to the world famous Blackpool Illuminations.

They all had a marvellous time seeing the lights in all their glory and the trams lit up too.

Halloween!

What a fabulous Halloween its been today.

themed music playing throughout the day, home decorations in place and the General Manager and staff dressing for the part.

And the day has been topped off by our special little visitors.

Our Senior staff member Amy's children came into our home specially this evening to trick or treat our residents and involve them in the festivities.

Our residents loved seeing their costumes and adding sweets to their buckets and they certainly put the biggest of smiles on our residents faces.

Autumnal Walk

Pauline's been out on a lovely autumnal walk this afternoon.

Pauline had an idea whilst out walking today to collect some of the fallen leaves to dry them out and do some leaf painting with the other residents tomorrow.

Brilliant idea Pauline!

A Visit from the Hairdresser

Nothing pleases our ladies more than a visit to the salon to have Angela work her magic on their locks each week.

The joy this brings to our residents each week is clear to see with smiles as beautiful as they are.

We all take a visit to hairdressers for granted, but to our residents, having a salon within our home is a lifeline to what they would of enjoyed in the community whilst living in their own homes.

Just beautiful!
