Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Sherwood Lodge leaps for joy!
Happy Leap Year day from all of us here at Sherwood Lodge. A leap year gives us that extra day to dream and to achieve and make a leap towards our goals. Here at the home all of our colleagues got together to leap for joy as we marked the occasion. A leap day exists to ensure our calendars align with Earth’s orbit, which in turn ensures our calendars aligns with seasons.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,

Happy Valentine’s Day to all our families and friends.
We have embraced the celebration of love at our lovely decorated home today. Residents have enjoyed a Valentines themed lunch and even decorated their own baked love heart biscuits.
One of our married couples at the home, Tony and Doreen celebrated Valentines with a candle lit dinner complete with roses.
Tony and Doreen have been married for over 60 years and live together in our home. A love made to last

We had four staff who stepped up to the challenge, one from each department, Liam our chef, Jodie our care assistant, Susan our housekeeper and Louise our admin assistant. They all tried their best but there can only be one winner ,Congratulations to admin assistant Louise.
Blooming Fun
Fun at Sherwood Lodge enabling residents to be creative and use their imagination, it also encourages use of fingers and hands and is a great stress reliever, promoting calm. The residents had such a good time and are very proud of the outcome.
Pet Therapy
This morning at Sherwood Lodge, we have had the pleasure of Claire a wonderful senior carer at Sherwood Lodge and her pet mercy a 4 years old France bulldog that loves cuddles, and this went down well with all the residents.
Pet therapy increases positive and decreases negatively. Interacting with animals is a wonderful distraction from daily life and brings back memories.
