Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home

Residents and School Children celebrate World Book Day
Bookshelves are bulging at Sherwood Lodge where book worm residents were keen to get involved in World Book Day. We welcomed children from our local school, Sherwood Primary school to mark the occasion.
Staff and residents at Sherwood Lodge care home decided to invite the local school children along for the afternoon. Everyone got involved by dressing up as characters from their favourite books and reading excerpts to each other. It was wonderful to see the variety of books that everyone was reading, and to listen to all the different topics being discussed.
Emma Powers, the Activities Co-ordinator at the home, commented: “Our residents all love to read and to talk about their favourite books so World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity for us all to spend the afternoon with our noses in our favourite books. Having the children come to visit us made it even more fun, we all loved seeing their costumes.”
Tracy Lyons General Manager, dressed as Cruella de Vil said, “It has been a brilliant afternoon and we have all enjoyed swapping our must-reads. Our residents love getting lost in a good book so they very much enjoyed reading excerpts from their favourite novels and discussing what they love about them. There are so many wonderful books to discover, everyone enjoyed finding out about new titles to put on their reading lists.”
