Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Father's Day
Residents at South Grange enjoyed a lovely day celebrating Father’s Day on June 16. With the lovely warm weather residents were able to enjoy meeting up with loved ones in the home’s garden whilst others made use of our beautiful lounges to spend time with their loved ones.
To celebrate all the fantastic dads and making our men feel more special the activity staff made up some sweet treats to deliver, this definitely put a smile on all their faces. Catherine Lappin, General Manager said: “We’ve all had a wonderful day today welcoming friends and family into the home. Occasions like Father’s Day are so important, it was fantastic to have such a lovely gathering with our residents and their loved ones all together enjoying the sunshine.”
Strawberry Shortcake Day
National Strawberry Shortcake Day on June 14 lands at the peak of strawberry season. Residents celebrated the day by indulging in strawberry sweet treats made by trainee chef Adam, with everyone agreeing they were delicious
We also spent the afternoon reminiscing about our younger days spending time being strawberry pickers, our delicious baking that would include strawberries and how any we would eat whilst picking them.
National Fish & Chip Day
National Fish and Chip day has returned for the 5th year running with the popular dish being served daily in fish & chip shops, pubs, restaurants, and hotels, by the fishermen and farmers who provide the sustainable and natural ingredients used to create it. On this day the nation will be enjoying this iconic family favourite which is traditionally eaten on a Friday.
Our head chef Bernard, prepared and served residents a delicious lunch of battered haddock with chips and sides of mushy peas, tartare sauce and sprinkling of vinegar. Which was enjoyed by everyone!
Live musical performance
Another great afternoon at South Grange as we welcomed one of our favourite live artists Jon McLauchlan. Jon played and sang a variety of songs that our residents requested, making it a very lively afternoon. Residents and staff filled the dance floor for the whole afternoon singing and dancing. The residents are all looking forward to Jon’s next visit in July.
National BBQ Week
We celebrated the National BBQ Week in style with a variety of meat and chicken dishes.
In recognition of this week, our talented chef and their team prepared delicious homemade burgers and bbq chicken served with salad and baked potatoes.
The week was truly enjoyed by all.
Tour of the deep
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.
