Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home

National Scrabble Day

National Scrabble Day, celebrated on 13 April every year, marks the birthday of the game's inventor, Alfred Mosher Butts, who was born on 13 April 1899. The iconic board game is now so popular, it's sold in 121 nations and played in 29 different languages.

Scrabble is a great game to bring intellectual stimulation and can be played both in teams and individually, and it is a hit among the residents at South Grange in Monifieth.

Indoor Gardening

One of our residents decided that he would like to recycle some milk cartoons and turn them into herb planters. Michael painted and decorated the cartoons and planted dill, basil, parsley and chives. Michael then went on to make wooden plaques with the names of the herbs. We are now seeing the herbs beginning to flourish.

Happy Easter

South Grange had a very busy Easter weekend. Residents enjoyed making Easter bonnets and entering them in to be judged, with the winner receiving a large egg from the Easter bunny.

They also took part in our Easter quiz, which again brought out their competitive side. The Easter bunny was very busy on Sunday delivering eggs to all our ladies and gents.

The weekend was finished off with a virtual concert by our local entertainers, and plenty of singing and dancing was enjoyed by all.

Home celebrate long service award

Residents also tucked in to a delicious Easter meal of roast lamb followed by Easter cake prepared by the home’s head chef Ross Morrison.
