Activities at St Thomas Care Home
Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Life at St Thomas Care Home
National Cream Tea Day
Residents loved celebrating National Cream Tea Day. Chan, our Head Chef, had lots of compliments from residents, staff & visitors who came to celebrate with us!
Cupcake Day
National Cupcake Day has been a real treat at St Thomas; sweet-toothed staff and residents got out their aprons and mixing bowls to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Baking is a much-loved hobby for many people who live and work at St Thomas. The team used the occasion to host a celebration of all things cupcake for residents, their families and invited guests got to enjoy. Residents and relatives were invited to bake cupcakes, with a prize awarded to the ‘best in show’.
Carers Week
St Thomas celebrated Carers Week by presenting care staff with a special Cadbury gift basket. Our carers work hard to provide high quality, personalised care to the people living in our home, often go above and beyond the call of duty and have a huge impact on people’s lives. They also offer friendship and comfort to residents and their relatives during what can be a very emotional time. We appreciate the work they do all year round.
Arts & Crafts
Residents have enjoyed making this welcome sign with Creative Minds, which will be displayed in our home. Over the past few weeks, they have been using the marbling technique, using pastels, watercolours and pencils to create their lovely artwork. They are very proud of how it has turned out!
International Nurses' Day
St Thomas held an event on the 12th May to celebrate International Nurses’ Day and support its nurses and care staff, who make a real difference to the lives of those we support.
It was a chance to recognise and reward the important work and dedication of nurses everywhere, who often go above and beyond the call of duty.
Our Nurses were presented with gifts and enjoyed cake and a chat whilst looking at nurses uniforms across the years.
Artists at Work
Residents were feeling very summery as they made these beautiful, colourful zebras. We really do enjoy it when Kayleigh comes in from Creative Minds.
