Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Birthday Celebrations

We do all love a good party, but some of our residents prefer things a little more low-key. This lovely lady celebrated her birthday. She didn’t want any fuss so she received her amazing cake and gifts from one of the care team who she really gets on with, and it made her day.

This is the absolute essence of the person-centred approach. We are so proud that we know our residents so well that such a simple gesture can bring so much happiness.

Family

We are so lucky at Stamford Bridge Beaumont to have such support from the family members of our residents. It makes everything so worthwhile when you can see the joy in both visitors and residents' faces when they are enjoying themselves engaging in one of our activities.

Always a favourite are our musician visits, but we’ve had people joining in with a wide variety of different activities and often sharing their skills and knowledge for the benefit of our entire resident population.

Pizza Making

Some of our lovely residents and their family members enjoyed an afternoon of making and eating pizza. The word is that there wasn’t a crumb left over!

Our residents always enjoy cooking activities, it’s always a lovely, friendly atmosphere and people are only too happy to share their secret ingredients and different ways of doing things. We can and learn so much from our residents. We really are lucky people.

The social aspect of these groups is so important too. Our regular attenders are so happy to welcome new people, whether they be new residents or visitors, to join in with the activity, and tasting, of course.

Celebrating a fabulous member of staff

Our residents helped select some wonderful photographic memories for the amazing Wendy who is celebrating her 20th year working at Stamford Bridge Beaumont.

Wendy started as a carer and has worked in activities for many years before a recent move into the housekeeping team.

Wendy is the life and soul of the building. Every home needs a Wendy, and despite her larger-than life character and infectious personality, she was left speechless with her surprise get together, an absolute first!

There is no higher praise than that from the residents. They all think the world of Wendy and were more than happy to share their memories of their time with her. Many stories and laughs were shared.

Here’s hoping to many more years to come Wendy. The home is not the same when you’re not around.

Making others smile

Our residents were only too happy to answer a request from one of our sister homes and make a special birthday card for one of their ladies who is turning 100 very soon.

It’s so lovely that our residents absolutely jumped at the chance to show off their creative and crafting skills to make somebody who they do not know happy.

Throughout the session, there was such a lovely atmosphere and everybody came together and helping each other, it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful afternoon.
