Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Making a wish come true

One of our wonderful residents has always dreamed of going to see Les Miserable but is sadly unable to travel very far so we brought Les Miserable to him!

We had the most amazing afternoon courtesy of our friends from 'The Daytime Choir Leeds' with 43 of their members all expressing a wish to come and perform for him and our residents, it was a very special performance.  Words cannot do the incredible atmosphere and sound of the choir justice, you really had to be there to experience it, not a dry eye in the house, and it was a truly magical afternoon.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

Beverley Minster Visit

Three of our ladies had a wonderful trip out to the absolutely stunning Beverley Minster. There was an added and unexpected bonus of a piano concert too! The pianist was absolutely brilliant and a wonderful time was had by all.  We have trips out on our own mini bus once a week and can't wait for the next one.

Pub Themed Afternoon

Our staff and residents enjoyed a 'Pub' themed afternoon - the bar opened serving a variety of very popular drinks and snacks so everybody was suitably refreshed for the start of the quiz.  We used a combination of oomp quizzes, 60's music and general knowledge, everybody said how much they enjoyed the afternoon and many people were pleasantly surprised by their quiz scores

Afternoon of live music

Another wonderful afternoon of entertainment courtesy of our regular performers, Dark Moon.

The power of music can never be underestimated, so much singing, dancing and laughter enjoyed by all, it's so lovely that our visitors enjoy these performances so much as well, it makes for such a fabulous atmosphere.

Dominos Afternoon

On friday afternoons we enjoy a fun session of dominos. This is such a great activity with each of the players engaging in playful banter throughout leading to lots of laughter and some blossoming friendly rivalries.

A game of Dominos was a great past time to some of our residents to we love to bring back memories by putting on our friday sessions.
