Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

World Health Day

We dedicated our day to promote the benefits of good health and wellbeing in recognition of World Health Day.

Our residents got involved in sensory and relaxing activities and fun-filled games, specially designed to improve and stimulate their physical health, as well as, mental wellbeing.

In the morning, they explored a number of nutritious recipes including some delicious fresh fruit platters and innocent smoothies. The residents all really enjoyed it, it was empty glasses and ramekins all round!

In the afternoon they enjoyed popcorn and dark chocolate, hummus and breadsticks, natural yoghurt and dried fruit.

We also took time to thank all team members at the home and also to acknowledge all hardworking healthcare professionals.

It was an enjoyable day indulging on some healthy treats!

Getting to know me

We had a wonderful morning with residents and our “Getting to know me” board game.

With this game everyone’s a winner! We always find out that little bit more, this is great for boosting many needs including: learning & development, intellectual, social, emotional and self esteem.

Reminiscing really was magical today.

Celebrations with local convenience store

Today we had the pleasure of being invited to the re-opening of Co-Op (Stamford Bridge) where our lovely resident Jean took part in the ribbon cutting.

Jean recently celebrated her special 102nd Birthday where Co-Op created a beautiful card and involved the local Schools. Today, Jean was presented with a beautiful hamper containing lots of treats and a lovely Birthday card on display.

To top of a wonderful morning, Jean and resident, Joyce enjoyed a cuppa and delicious cake at the local coffee shop No. 10 Café Bar & Bistro.

Thank you Co-Op, we had a lovely morning celebrating your re-opening.

Fruit Tasting Afternoon Tea

Residents on the Lodge enjoyed a fruit tasting with their afternoon tea and cake this afternoon.

Food tastings provide the opportunity for our residents to identify and describe what they can taste, as well as explore their likes and dislikes.

Mothering Sunday

Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers in recognition of Mother’s Day.

During the day residents enjoyed visits and phone calls from their families, they loved receiving and opening their cards and gifts, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea whilst reminiscing about their fondest memories.

There were smiles all around the home.

Theatre Inspired Virtual Talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.

‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!
