Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Queen Elizabeth's Birthday

Residents had great fun making crowns as we celebrated her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth's Birthday.

After lots of folding and plenty of gluing later, our residents were able to show off their crowns, which we're sure you'll agree are worthy of royalty.

Chicks Hatching

With our chicks busy hatching, we have now been able to move some to the brooder box where they will spend the rest of their time while they are with us.

Residents were able to have their first interaction with them, it is so wonderful to see the residents interacting with the chicks, many have reared chicks at some point through the years and share memories of these times.

Easter Egg Hunt with Local School

Stamford Bridge Beaumont had a busy Good Friday as we invited local children to complete an Easter Egg Hunt in our garden.

They all had great fun and were thrilled with their prizes. Thank you to our Chef, Amy who made some delicious Easter themed cupcakes and biscuits.

Chick Hatching at Stamford Bridge Beaumont

To celebrate the arrival of Spring, our Activities team arranged for ready-to-hatch chick eggs to be delivered to the home.

The 10 eggs were set up in the incubator, which are accompanied by signs to remind our residents and staff to be careful around the table.

We will monitor their progress closely; our residents and staff even made predictions as to when the eggs might hatch. We hope to see some hatching activity this week.

Keep a look out for updates!

Virtual event with the Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.

We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

Ladies Day at Stamford Bridge Beaumont

The ladies at our home had a great excuse to put on their elegant clothes and hats in recognition of the Ladies Day at the Grand National, held annually at Aintree Racecourse.

The day is held alongside horse racing, and is famous not only for the action on the course, but the fashion and entertainment of it.

During the day, we had a reminiscing session about formal events and attire and enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, using our lovely hamper we received from Stamford Bridge Co-Op last week.

It was a great day for our ladies.
