Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.
Michael Lythgoe
I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition
I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.
I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
VE Day Celebrations
We marked the anniversary of VE Day in style by throwing a party. Our home was specially decorated for the occasion with flags and bunting. Our residents marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style with a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember.
The home was decorated in red, white and blue and residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon of music by the fabulous Dark Moon. It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all.
Flags were flying, hands were clapping and feet tapping.
International Firefighters Day
Today is International Firefighters Day, a day to recognise and honour all the amazing firefighters within our local community.
To thank current and past firefighters, we asked our local fire service Pocklington Fire Station to pay us a visit, so our residents could pay their tributes and have conversations with them.
Residents enjoyed chatting with the firefighters over some delicious cakes and hot drinks.
We also celebrated our lovely resident Helen's Birthday. A beautiful bouquet of Flowers arrived from her Family and we all wished her a Happy Birthday with the Firefighters.
A great time was had by all.
Resident knits hat for newborn baby
Zoe, our Senior Care Assistant has recently welcomed her Nephew, Kenzie to the world on the 21st April weighing 5lbs 5oz. Mum and Kenzie are doing well and he is now home with his Family.
Our lovely resident Margaret decided she wanted to knit a small hat to help keep Kenzie warm. Thank you to Margaret for your lovely gesture. We are sure it will look adorable on Kenzie!
Conversations on The Pond with Henry Slator
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
A great time was had by all.
