Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Landmark celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Stamford Bridge Beaumont, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style.

Vera Shoesmith was joined by staff, relatives and other residents as she received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday. A special party was held at the home and residents enjoyed a special birthday cake made for Vera.

Vera was born on 7th January 1922 in Portsmouth where she lived until her marriage in 1944.She worked at St James Hospital and then joined the Wrens.

She met Bert who was a Royal Marine and they had 2children, Laraine and David. They travelled in this country and abroad with Bert’s postings finally settling in Portsmouth. They moved to a retirement home in Oakley in January 2015 to live nearer to family. When the family relocated to Yorkshire in 2019 Vera came with them .Vera is now living at Barchester Stamford Bridge and is enjoying a new chapter in her life near to all the family.

Merry Christmas

After a lovely day yesterday opening presents and enjoying our Christmas dinner today was time for mulled wine, mince pies and moments of reflection. We hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas.

Christmas games

Who doesn’t love a board game at Christmas, today residents enjoyed frustration, dominoes and play your cards right. Board games bring back lots of memories for our residents, often reminiscing about times they were played with their families.

Christmas party

We had a lot of fun at our Christmas parties today, we had bingo, quiz and our all time favourite interactive 12 days of Christmas which is always a lot of fun even the staff had a great time.

Festive decorations

Our residents have been getting creative again this year making centre pieces for the tables over Christmas.

Christmas cake

Earlier this month we spent a morning baking our annual Christmas cake, we are looking forward to tasting it next week at the afternoon entertainment.
