Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Birthday celebrations for a lovely lady!

Yesterday we celebrated another landmark birthday in our home as our resident Edna turned 90.

Residents enjoyed a coffee morning and 50s sing along to celebrate Edna’s special day.

It was a wonderful day!

Valentine pom-poms

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, we have been busy knitting colourful pom-poms to create our heart themed decorations as we celebrate the month of love!

RSPB Bird Watch

Our residents are very excited to take part in this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch and they got their binoculars and bird books out to support the initiative.

The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual event to try to understand what is happening to our native birds. The idea is to log all the birds you see in your garden, from your window or in your local park in a one hour period any time between January 28th and 30th. Last year over 1 million people took part and between them they counted 17 million birds.

Our residents had a brilliant time filling up birdfeeders to attract the birds before they got started and then looking up the different species in their bird books to make sure they were logging them correctly.

Birthday celebrations

Happy birthday to our lovely resident Grace, 90 today. Grace enjoyed a visit from her daughter and received lots of flowers, cards and good wishes from family and friends.  Staff and residents helped Grace celebrate this wonderful milestone in style, with a tea party, which was thoroughly enjoyed by Grace and her friends this afternoon.

Home links with charitable foundation

Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home in Stamford Bridge is launching three grants totalling £30,000 in the name of a former Barchester resident, Jeanette Gill, who generously donated part of her legacy to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  The Foundation is calling for deserving local charities and community groups to apply for these special awards.

Named in her memory, the Jeanette Gill Special Awards are open to groups and individuals in need in our local community, and will be awarded to projects that enrich lives and encourage an active lifestyle through arts, music, sports and culture for older people or adults with a disability, or those that may have challenges with mental health.

A stroll around the garden

Residents made the most of the dry milder weather yesterday with a walk around our gardens, nothing quite like some fresh air straight after Christmas.
