Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home

Beautiful bouquets

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.

Mexican Independence Fun Day

Residents and staff had so much fun celebrating Mexican day this month. The home was donned in flags and themed decorations and everyone dressed up for the day. Residents took a virtual trip to Mexico, listened to Mexican music, played themed games and had a go at our own hat dance! We went on sensory travels with Mexican themed scents in a blind game and joined our amigos for a Mexican themed feast of fajitas, nachos, Mexican lasagne and chilli chocolate cake.

Remembering the Queen

During the national period of mourning, we’ve spent time reminiscing and celebrating the memory and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Our hearts were heavy following the very sad news but together we took some time to reflect in her extraordinary life.

We held our own mourning service with our volunteer Paulette, from the Holy Sepulchre church, we reminisced of brighter times and residents made beautiful flower arrangements with her favourite flower ‘lily of the valley’ and heather to represent Balmoral and lovely cakes for our afternoon tea in our queens honour

Dementia Cafe

We know the importance of supporting our local community and now hold monthly dementia cafes, specifically for those living with dementia or caring for a loved one. We were thrilled so many joined us this month for good company, delicious cakes and a chat to our dementia champions in the home, along with special guest Lynda Goodlet to begin peoples journey on creating bespoke memory books funded by the national lottery. A fabulous afternoon was had by all.

Seaside trip

Residents had a glorious day visiting South Beach.  They thoroughly enjoyed tucking into delicious Fish and Chips with views of the seafront at the Dave Stephenson Centre and learnt of Blyth’s sea history from Stephen with the Mind Active Team. Before having a stroll along the promenade enjoying an ice cream and taking in the sun, sea and sand.

Wow what a brilliant day everyone had at our Hawaiian themed summer Fete!   It was brilliant to see so many family and friends joining us in our garden for various stalls, games, fun, food and live entertainment from the brilliant Musical Memories.
