Activities at Station Court Care Home
Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.
Carly Chesney
Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator. I joined the home in 2011. I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Station Court Care Home
Postcards of Kindness
We have received postcards all the way from Wales! Bringing back many happy memories with them and the opportunity to connect with others at these strange times. They have sparked many conversations and they have enjoyed making cards in our craft sessions to reply to them.
Many thanks to those who have sent some, we would love more!
A Kind Donation
We have received a kind donation from Asda, Ashington, of toiletries for our residents and some face masks for our staff.
Fun in the Garden
There were smiles all round at Station Court as staff and residents came together for a ‘virtual’ garden party to take advantage of the glorious weather, and as part of the home's life enrichment programme during the current pandemic. The home is sharing their colourful and fun-filled activity stories and photographs to the residents' loved ones, along with news of what they have been doing.
It was the residents who suggested a garden party, and we were delighted to plan it. They love getting outdoors and we had been thinking about how we could do different things to keep them entertained and give them a wee bit of exercise.
It was a fun-filled afternoon for us all!
Residents Send Notes to Loved Ones
As well as keeping in touch with families and friends via skype calls, our residents also enjoyed writing notes to loved ones and sending to families which began many conversations between each other via email.
Residents of our pen pal group have also connected with people all the way from Cardiff by sending postcards!
Garden Party with a Difference
All our staff dressed up for the event and we all enjoyed dancing and singing to music through the eras with ice lollies, fruit kebabs, smoothies, ice-cream floats and of course the sunshine too! Even though residents were socially distant from each other it put smiles on everyone’s faces at a much needed time!
Community Gifts
Colleagues at Station Court have been overwhelmed with the kindness shown across the home with community gifts for residents, and for themselves receiving colourful, handmade drawstring laundry bags to put their uniform straight into when they’ve finished their shift.
These drawstring laundry bags can be put in the washing machine without having to handle them, making them ideal for care workers and other key workers during this current pandemic.
A big thank you from all staff at Station Court to their sewing machinist for donating 64 laundry bags for every staff member.
