Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.

Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!

Kelly Sherwin

Activities Coordinator

I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.

My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Life at Tandridge Heights Care Home

,

World Circus Day

Residents and staff celebrated World Circus Day with lots of fun, games and yummy treats. We decorated the entire home, dressed up as circus characters, learnt to juggle and played some fun games.

We had a candy floss machine, cakes and a sweet cart, but the highlight of the day was a visit from the ice cream man. The residents loved going outside to order and collect their Mr. Whippy ice creams.

,

Pet Therapy

To celebrate National Pet Day, we enjoyed some pet therapy at Tandridge Heights. Our lovely host, Rachel, brought her adorable puppy, Peggy, in to see our residents.

The residents absolutely loved her and couldn’t wait for a cuddle. Peggy was very well behaved and loved all the attention that everyone gave her. Peggy really cheered everyone up and brought a smile to the residents faces.

Welcoming Back Visitors

Tandridge Heights welcomed our first in-room visits. Residents are now able to have one designated family member or friend to visit in their rooms regularly. It was so lovely to see the reunions between our residents and their loved ones. It really has brought a buzz back to the home and lifted everyone’s spirits.

Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother’s Day with afternoon tea. Residents enjoyed a selection of sandwiches, mini quiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam. We also raised a glass to our mums, daughters, granddaughters, aunties, friends and all the other mother figures in our lives.

International Women's Day

Tandridge Heights celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March with a live virtual talk from the Historic Environment Scotland on women and their roles in the wars of independence.

We also enjoyed a talk and discussion about inspirational women, which was written by resident, Pauline. We celebrated lots of women, including Margaret Thatcher, Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa, as well as our sisters, mothers, daughters and colleagues.

A great day was had by all!

Valentine's Day

Tandridge Heights is lucky enough to have 3 married couples, so we celebrated with a romantic meal for our couples and a themed meal for all other residents.

All residents were given a beautifully wrapped rose, chocolates, a Valentine’s card and a knitted heart. The knitted hearts were kindly donated to us by a local charity. We also asked our residents for any love advice they had for younger generations. Some of the responses were lovely and some were quite funny.

A lovely day was had by both residents and staff.
