Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Helen Hudson

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I’m Helen, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars. I joined the team in 2021 and I have lots of skills that I can use to create an interesting and varied programme of activities, events and celebrations for residents to enjoy. I am a qualified holistic therapist and offer an holistic approach to activities in the home, I love creating new activities that our residents enjoy, taking residents out on day trips and promoting wellbeing through lots of different activities. When I am not at work I love playing my clarinet, crocheting and art - I use all of these in my role.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

30 Years of Service

The Cedars celebrated 30 years’ service for two team members with a surprise party with residents, relatives and friends. Peggy Brooks and Susan Knibbs have both been at the homes for 30 years; they work as hard today as they did when they started, and care deeply about our residents. They never fail to make everyone smile!

1940’s Blitz Evening

Residents attended the local corn exchange to enjoy an evening of entertainment from the 1940’s Blitz singers. There were many people dressed in 1940’s costumes and the dance floor was busy with them showing us their dance moves, Charleston, tango, waltzes and the Viennese waltz which our residents really enjoyed and said it brought back happy memories.

To make the evening more nostalgic we were all given fish, chips and mushy peas wrapped in newspaper which were delicious and really finished the evening off.

Live Entertainment

Once again, residents looked forward to listening and singing along with our singer, Jeremy. He sang songs from the '60s through to the '90s. with everyone enjoying the ambiance he creates when around.

20 Years of Service

Well done to Night Nurse, Alison, who recently celebrated her 20th year here at The Cedars.
