Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Caroline Geddes

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.

I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives.  My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Tixover House Care Home

Eyes down for bingo bonzana

Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as we teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.

Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

Everyone who participate had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Floral Masterclass

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Afternoon Tea

We were delighted to welcome back the wonderful Melanie from 'Finding Friends'

Finding Friends is a local companionship group, operating in the heart of the Tixover Community.

Melanie joined our residents and relatives for afternoon tea.

Everyone had a fabulous time as they tucked into the variety of cakes over and were even treated to a wonderful musical rendition by one of our residents, who wowed the audience in attendance.

Ladies Who Lunch

Every Thursday we take a trip out in our minibus and engage our residents within the local community,

This week our journey took us to the ever so lovely cafe at the 'Stamford Garden Centre' where we indulged in sweet and savoury home baked treats and delicious beverages including hot chocolate, non alcoholic cocktails, smoothies and pink lemonade - As you can see we all had a lovely time together!

Many thanks to the wonderful staff, especially Jo, who made our trip out such a lovely one and gave our resident lots of new and happy memories, we’ll be back soon!

Gentleman's Club

The start of February saw Tixover House proudly launch our new monthly 'Gentlemen's Club'

Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month from 2pm. Our gents from around the home will come together to enjoy a series of activities ranging from gardening, reminiscing and planned trips to the local pub and brewery.

Our Gentlemen's Club allows our male residents to come together and feel more confident, whilst enjoying a few drinks and reminiscing about the good old days, to chat about the weekly news, howthe times have changed.

Baby Shower

Laura our Senior Carer celebrated the pending birth of her baby girl with a 'Baby Shower'

Our residents, colleagues and friends joined Laura for a buffet and Ascot Blush Cocktails! As well as a side order of tea and plenty of cake!

Everyone had an amazing time playing baby bingo and our residents had loads of fun filling out baby advice cards.

From all of us at Tixover House, we wish Laura all the best and can't wait her soon to be arriving baby girl.
