Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
Summer Fete
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at the Tixover House Care Home to enjoy a swinging 50’s Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds on Saturday 19th August.
Tixover House hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a BBQ, tombola stall, live entertainment and fair ground themed games which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Tixover House Care Home made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as Cold beers, burgers, chips, cakes and sparkling refreshments, prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!
India Independence Day
Happy Indian Independence Day to all of our families and friends, near and far.
Our residents, colleagues and guests came together and celebrated 77 years of independence for India and we celebrated with delicious food, traditional dress.
Ive, our General Manager, made the staff a delicious curry and Ian, our chef made vegetable curry for the residents accompanied by traditional samosas, onion bhajis and pakoras, some of the residents liked the spices more then others but we all had a great day full of laughter and fun!
Feline fantastic
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Tixover House Care Home in Tixover got up close and personal with some furry friends when they celebrated International Cat Day on August 8th.
International Cat Day is an annual event to celebrate one of man’s most common and ancient pets. Cats have even been worshipped as gods in some cultures, some might say they still are!
Trip to the Garden Centre
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip out courtesy of our friends at the Welland Vale Garden centre in Uppingham. As our residents enjoyed an array of flora and fauna during a tour of the garden centre, before enjoying delicious cakes and refreshments in the Orchard Café.
Residents at Tixover House enjoyed reminiscing about their own gardens and shared green finger tips with each other and our colleagues at the garden centre.
Virtual Tour of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Zoo-Lab Visit
Tixover House Care Home, in Tixover, Rutland, was full of animal mischief on Thursday when the mobile zoo came to visit the home.
Residents at Tixover House were pleasantly surprised to see animals such as Gecko’s, Snakes, Rodents and Exotic Spiders were brought into our lounge area as Chris from Zoo-Lab paid a visit
