Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.

I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives.  My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Tixover House Care Home

Barchester’s Big Quiz of the year!

All over the country our care homes and hospitals linked up for Barchester’s Big Quiz of the year!

Residents tested their knowledge with a variety of questions, from historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Family Talent

The Tixover House Care Home was delighted and privileged to share in the musical talent of a residents visiting family.

The talented family were visiting their loved one and wished to perform a musical number, the family were kind enough to share their talent not just with their loved one but also our residents, colleagues and visiting family members.

It was a truly special occasion. made even more special by the shared love of a family for one another.

Meet The Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.  We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Visiting our Community Heroes

Our Communities Team were out and about, spreading festive cheer and visiting our heroes in the local community.

We visited Sally and the incredible team at Lavender Mill in Oakham.

Lavender Mill offers an incredible day service for members of the community and their families who have been touched by dementia.

It was a pleasure to speak with the members of Lavender Mill and their families as they enjoyed the last day care event before Christmas, featuring the 'Dukes of Rutland' Ukulele Band

On behalf of our residents at Tixover House and our sister home Chater Lodge Care Home we couldn't have been more delighted to send Sally and the team a bag of much deserved festive treats to say thank you for their invaluable work in the community.

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies with Parkinson's UK

Barchester’s Tixover House and Chater Lodge Care Home’s, in Ketton and Tixover and Parkinson’s UK got in the Christmas spirit by hosting a series of festive themed coffee mornings featuring Mulled Wine and Mince Pies for our residents and guests.

Tixover House and Chater Lodge’s Community events were in full swing as we welcomed Liz Knowles from Parkinson’s UK as residents and guests enjoyed live musical entertainment, mulled wine, mince pies and other festive treats.

General Manager’s, Ive Alexander and Zoe Postgate said and agreed: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and our fantastic residents love to get festive so we’ve pulled out all the stops.  It is so lovely to see them all getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s definitely our favourite time of the year.”

Christmas Wreaths

Our residents from around the home came together to create a variety of beautiful hand made Christmas Wreathes and Centre Pieces for our dining room tables.

The smell of pine filled the air as resident reminsced about Christmas past and what they're looking forward to this year.

The wreath making tradition is a treasured highlight in the Tixover Christmas calendar and is certainly one which our residents and colleagues cherish together.
