Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Being a motivator and influencer to the people around me has always been my passion, and also part of my profession. As an Activity Coordinator, my ultimate goal is to transfer my energy and spread my happiness.

Life at Trinity Manor Care Home
Life is a Cabaret, Old Chum!
One of our favourite entertainers here in the home, is the fabulously, glamourous Jan McNeill - Entertainer and Speaker!
Not only is she insanely talented as a singer, but in fact she has led the most interesting life, as she sang onboard cruise ships and eventually became Cruise Director, mixing and mingling with some REALLY famous folk!
So, we decided to bring Jan back to see us, but this time, not in a singing capacity, but for her to regale us with some of her tales and stories from her 35+ year career...
Jan told us her story as to how she had ended up in singing aboard some of the world's most stunning ships and name dropped left, right & centre, from Sir Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John, Una Stubbs, Lionel Blair to name but a few, but it wouldn't be a cruise ship talk without mention of the especially lovely Jane McDonald!
Jan also explained how she was central to Sir Cliff's big birthday bash, when he chartered the entire ship to celebrate with some of his most famous friends!
What a truly enviable, wonderful career you have had, Jan!
Thank you so very much for sharing it all with us.
P.S. We quite like the feathered headdresses - In particular, we think Joe looks particularly cabaret ready in his!
Poppy Appeal
Don't forget to support this year's Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal!
We like to do our bit here in the home and residents like to lay a wreath each year on Remembrance Day, at the cenotaph by the Abbey (see our lovely friends from the local branch of the Royal British legion handing over this year's wreath at the poppy launch recently).
We also have a box of poppies as well as badges, lanyards and lots more Poppy Appeal items available on our reception desk.
Please give generously to this VERY worthwhile cause...
It's so important to encourage every generation to thank the last and to also learn about the work that the Royal British Legion do.
Donate whatever you can afford - Take a leaf out of baby Rosie's book and get your poppy today!
Wear your poppy with pride!
Say 'Hello...'
Say 'hello' to the newest member of the housekeeping team...
Grace joins the team working as bank housekeeping & laundry, as she is currently on her gap year, next year going off to Liverpool Media Academy to study a degree in Digital Film & TV Production.
Grace will pop up from time to time during her year off and also when she is back from university, helping to cover annual leave and any extra shifts, to enable Trinity Manor to continue to room smoothly.
WELCOME TO THE TEAM, GRACE!

Remember, Remember!
Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys
God save the King!
Here are some of our recent visitors from Leweston showing some of our residents how to make origami catherine wheels - What a fabulous job they day - Thank you for your amazing efforts.
The New Guy in Town!
With Guy Fawkes night recently, residents here in the home have been busying themselves with a few traditions...
There was much laughter and fun happening in our cafe recently when everyone was joined by the lovely Poppy, who came across to spend some time with our residents from next door at @Sherborne Girls School.
With Bonfire night on the horizon, they decided to get to work making a traditional guy, so everyone helped to stuff some old jeans and a top and create a lovely looking fella!
He has certainly caused a few of the night staff to jump a little and the residents have a good giggle every time they sit by him - with one saying, 'he looks like he's seen better days!'
Thank you to everyone who helped and thank you, Poppy - It was lovely to have you visit and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.
Creepy Capers
On Halloween afternoon over at our sister home, West Abbey Care Centre - Barchester Healthcare, things got a little bit creepy very quickly!
Joining forces for a bit of safety in numbers, some of our lovely residents enjoyed a relaxing, leisurely bus ride out to see our friends over in Yeovil, but they got a little bit of a surprise when they arrived!
The two homes enjoyed some delicious Halloween themed treats and a lovely cuppa, followed by a visit from some very special guests. The homes together were absolutely entralled by who had turned up to see them...
One aptly dressed witch from the fabulous ZooLab, along with some of her wonderful critters and extraordinary creatures arrived at the home, which were then showcased to everyone in the room - some, being much braver than others, holding and stroking them as they learned a little about them all.
Scorpions, snakes, cockroaches and much more! (Clearly our residents are doing their homework ready for a new season of I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE!)
Thank you, Zoo Lab and our lovely friends at West Abbey for a fabulous afternoon - everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
