Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Burns Night Shenanigans!

What a wonderful day our residents and staff have had!

Celebrating the bard, Robbie Burns, here at Trinity Manor today, residents channelled their inner scot and even dressed the part as they listened to some of his poems and also to some Scottish music, attempted a seated highland fling and even managed to make some working bagpipes!

We don't know about you, but we could all now do with a wee dram of scotch and lay down after all that activity!

HAPPY BURNS NIGHT TO YOU ALL!

Paint Brushes at the Ready!

Our residents have started work on creating some beautiful flowers to don a giant tree ready for some birds to come and perch in...

Looking ULTRA gorgeous from a mornings' pampering at the hairdresser, residents later on enjoyed a little painting along with some help and encouragement from our activities team, Laura and Joe.

In the upcoming weeks they will start work on painting some birds for the tree as well as making bird feeders for the garden, all ready for a short season of bird watching, as we help the RSPB Love Nature in their annual Great Garden Bird Watch! So watch this space and see what they will spot!

Have you signed up yet?

Brain Games

We started off the new year with lots of physical exercises, but let's not forget the importance of exercising the brain too...

Recently, we did just that here at Trinity Manor, as we did a bit of brainstorming as well as playing some word games.

First of all, one resident was asked to give a letter, which was then written on the board, then we wrote down several different categories, such as boys names, girls names, places and finally, wildlife. Residents then shouted out answers to the various categories starting with that letter, which in this case was an 'S'.

Then to finish the session, we put them through their paces with a simple game of zigzag words. Four letter words only, each following word must start with the last letter of the word before. Simple... Or is it? It gets harder and harder the further into the game, but it definitely got them all thinking!

Can you think of games or puzzles our residents may enjoy trying?

Magic Table!

Residents here at Trinity Manor have managed to chase away any January blues recently, as up on our Memory Lane floor, our Magic Table has entertained them all well, bringing lots of interaction, smiles and laughter to our corridors!

It really is an amazing piece of equipment and we count ourselves so very lucky to have it here in our home.

Whether it's batting a ball to each other, popping bubbles, tickling & chasing the koi fish or rustling and gathering lots of leaves, there's always lots of giggles and faces filled with amazement as they connect and interact.

Book a visit to come and take a look for yourself!

Morning Has Broken

What a glorious winter morning our residents awoke to recently!

Jack frost had been about, giving everything a silvery layer in his wake, but what a stunning view there was around and about for our residents to enjoy!

In the garden, there was much to see for the residents as they wrapped up warm for their morning strolls, spotting the the bird bath which had a thin layer of ice across it.

Up on our top floor, the views were stunning across the South of Sherborne, as the mist started to burn off.  We really are truly blessed to have such stunning surroundings here at Trinity Manor!

Oh, Baby!

It may be a while since our residents were nurturing babes in arms for themselves, but recently they held a surprise baby shower with some of the staff, so that they could send our Head Housekeeper, Vicky, off on her maternity leave with all our very best wishes!

Genuine surprise and shock adorned her face as she was coerced into the cafe area, where staff and residents cheered for her, surprising her with cakes, presents and mini baby shower games, such as 'Guess the Baby' & 'Stick the Dummy on the Baby'.

Vicky, we will miss you immensely, but send you away with all of our love and best wishes - You will be an AMAZING Mummy!
