Activities at Tyspane Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Jacqui Conroy
Jacqui and her team devise and plan fun group activities and events for all our residents, including pamper days, gentle exercise classes and music therapies. Regular one to one sessions and smaller groups are tailored to residents specific needs and hobbies with gardening and crafts amongst the most popular.

Life at Tyspane Care Home
Cadenza Alpacas
The sun was shining at Tyspane on the 20th of June, when we welcomed a visit from the Cadenza Alpacas and Sue - their handler. The residents had a great afternoon interacting with the Alpacas and learning lots about their care, and history.
There were many photo opportunities and also lots of petting and feeding opportunities. This activity was well received by residents, families and also our nursery children that visit us weekly, got the chance to say hello.
Dinner and Dancing
After honouring our local veterans at the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, residents and staff had Dinner & Dance on 15th June at Braunton Parish Hall, music & merriment followed throughout the evening. Everyone had a fabulous time, dancing & singing to the sounds of the Golden Coast Big band, especially our two lovely residents, whom we accompanied to the dinner dance.
The ladies were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, not only in remembrance & honour their late husband’s heroic actions during the war, but also for their own unwavering support throughout the war. Both of them said it had been an honour to attend the event, and that they had really enjoyed the evening.
Tyspane Goes Quackers
After much anticipation, our duckling eggs finally hatched on 8th May. We hatched a healthy eight ducklings from nine eggs and there was much excitement around the home, as we saw them arrive over a 24 hour period. The ducklings have been growing fast and are much loved by all the residents already. We have been fortunate to find all of them new homes and they will be leaving our care once they reach the two week period and are able to survive away from the added comfort of the heat lamp.
Art Therapy
We enjoyed an afternoon of arts and crafts with a cup of tea and home baked cakes. Colouring is a great therapy technique and an opportunity to relax in the conservatory with the afternoon sun!
Scalextric Evening
The ladies and gentlemen of Tyspane enjoyed a race around the lounge – formula one style! This activity was accompanied by nibbles and refreshments.
Gardening Club
Tyspane is getting ready for spring with some indoor potting – a perfect opportunity for residents to start planning and building for the summer. A great afternoon was had by all!
