Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Zoe Aldea
Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.
I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.
I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
Christmas cake competition
Residents at Wadhurst really enjoy the Barchester Cake competition. It gives them a chance to get really involved, from the initial stages of mixing, stirring and baking. Then on to the designing and decorating too. This year the creative team made this one for the entry. Not only did it look amazing it tasted delicious too.
Celebrating elf day
Never one to shy away from fund raising or a party. Staff and Residents got into the spirit of Elf day this year. Some dressed up, whilst others dressed them up. Having lots of fun all while raising money for the Alzheimer's society too.
Christmas wreath masterclass
The residents were treated to a wreath making masterclass, and what amazing creations they made. They helped with the foraging, designing, making and then hanging pride of place on each others doors.
Sweetie Wreath Making
Breaking with tradition this year, Our residents wanted to try something new and also give back to those who are always on hand to help. They have made these beautiful sweetie wreaths and will be presenting them to our volunteers who give up their time to make our residents lives happy.
Pamper Time
Residents are overjoyed as the hairdresser is now allowed back into the home. We understand how important self care is to everyone, so as soon as they gave the green light we booked as many people in as we could. We have a feeling she is going to be very busy over the coming weeks getting our residents for the festive period.
Elf Day
Everyone got in the spirit of Elf day this year. There was dressing up, fun games and laughter. everyone picked an Elf name for someone. Meet Belle Merryman she was a big hit and made sure they all had a great time. All whilst supporting the Alzheimer's society charity and raising money too.
