Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Zoe Aldea
Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.
I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.
I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
Manager's Cocktail Party
What a start to the Christmas festivities; the Manager's Cocktail Party was a great success, with wonderful cocktails chosen by the residents, amazing canapés and great company. Magician, Janet Clair, one of the first lady magicians in the magic circle, was also on hand to amaze residents with some close-up magic.
Christmas Cake Competition
Residents got involved with stirring the Christmas cake; some took their job very seriously and others found it very amusing.
Petpals
Petpals brought in some rabbits to see us and everyone really enjoyed the visit. Some residents spent the time sitting quietly and stroking our guests, whilst others used the time to reminisce about past pets.
Wood Wide Web Workshop
We were so grateful to Wadhurst Culture for including us in the 'Wood Wide Web' workshops. Artist, Beccy McCray, joined us for an afternoon and ran two workshops that centred around sharing memories. Residents really enjoyed her teachings.
Armistice Day
Debonnaire Entertainment provided a stunning show celebrating the songs from the war years. It was a wonderful afternoon, with most residents joining in with the singing and dancing.
Amber's Wedding
Residents were thrilled to be a part of the wedding celebrations when Carer, Amber, got married. Amber and her new husband joined us in their wedding attire to reenact the ceremony. Residents joined the congregation and Dennis stood in as father of the bride, Gerald as best man and Marian & Pattie were beautiful maids of honour. Jane Spur came in to play the piano for us and everyone joined in with the hymns that Dennis had chosen.
